Bill Moggridge explains in his video that the current practice in design is changing. Not only do designers have to pay close attention to the geometry and physiology of a design, they must also consider other factors such as human interface and connectivity. What ha means by describing design as a collaborative process is that by bringing people from different background together allows them to produce better designs. It is a more efficient and beneficial design practice because these people from different disciplines (e.i. graphic designers, industrial designers, marketers, etc…) can collaborate their ideas together.
Bill Moggridge uses American Red Cross as an example of collaborative design. The “why I give” paragraph allows the blood-donors to connect with others who also wanted to donate. It’s a good way to share and it brings people together through words. Another example would be the design of a device for nasal and ear surgery. During the design process, developers would incorporate surgeons as well. Whenever a designer suggests something new in terms of the device, surgeons/doctors can give immediate feedbacks.

Wikipedia would be an online example of a product which utilizes Bill Moggridge’s principles of collaborative design. It is a free, web-based project supported by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundations. Its 18 million articles are written collaboratively by volunteers around the world and almost all of its articles can be edited by anyone with access to the site. (Wikipedia)
Wikipedia is very interesting because even though they strongly stress on the importance of verifiability and neutral point of view, but their information is bias because of its collaborative characteristic. Because anyone with access to the site can change its information, articles/news about recent events can appear on the website at a very fast rate.
We can see how Wikipedia directly involves its users in their product. On most topics, users can edit the content anonymously or with an account (while only registered users may create a new article). When changes to an article are made, they usually become available immediately before undergoing any review. (which can be a good and a bad thing)
